The Information Science department at the Open University, The Netherlands, is seeking several candidates for an assistant professor position with a focus on teaching and research(resp 70-30) in information systems at both the bachelor and master level. The preferred fields of specialization for the position include but are not limited to: business/data analytics, it/data governance, business process management, performance measurement, enterprise modelling, requirements engineering. The position is expected to start June 1, 2022 (but can be discussed).

JOB DESCRIPTION
As an assistant professor of Information Science, you have wide ranging functions. You develop, provide, test and evaluate assigned coherent scientific educational components within the Master Business Process Management & IT, the Bachelor Information Science and the other related courses of the faculty. You also supervise the learning trajectory of students, including graduation projects of these programs. In addition, you conduct and acquire research (second and third flow) in line with the faculty research plan on one of the topics of strategic design, governance or business processes. You will supervise PhD students, regularly publish nationally and internationally, and actively disseminate the results of your own research and developments in the field. You will also participate in working groups, committees and/or project teams within the faculty.

REQUIREMENTS
You have completed an academic education and have (nearly) acquired a PhD in a field relevant to the position.
You have (international) research experience in the field of information science and/or business administration.
You have scientific creativity, production and impact, as demonstrated by several publications.
You have experience in raising external funding.
You have an interest in the broader context of the field, such as the relationship between business and IT, IT-Governance, business processes and/or Enterprise Architecture and an affinity with teaching and research related to the interaction between business processes and IT.
You have teaching experience with various teaching methods (such as blended learning, project supervision, supervision of graduates).
You are in possession of the Basic Teaching Qualification (BKO) or are willing to obtain it within a short period of time.
Given the general educational needs, the social embedding and other responsibilities of the department, command of the Dutch language is a long-term requirement.
Finally, you have good communication and contact skills and are able to work in a team.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Fixed-term contract: or a period of 18 months with a prospect of a permanent position in the event of good performance. We are open to discuss secondment or other arrangements.

The salary will be determined on the basis of your experience and qualifications, but will be in accordance with the general salary scales 11-12 of the CAO-NU. An indication of the maximum gross salary is € 5.943.- per month, for a full-time appointment.

DEPARTMENT
Faculty of Science
The faculty of Science is one of the six faculties of the OU of the Netherlands. Education, research and valorisation are the main tasks. The faculty offers academic bachelor and master programmes in the fields of Computer Science, Information Science and Environmental Sciences. The faculty’s research programme focuses on Innovating for Resilience. Further, the faculty is partner in the Center for Actionable Research of the OU (CAROU). The faculty has PhD-students who conduct research on various current topics within the research programme. By focusing on research that is interwoven with education, as well as the close link with practice, work at our faculty provides many innovative and challenging opportunities for entrepreneurial researchers.

Department of Information Science
The Department of Information Science has approximately 23 employees (19 FTE) and consists of enthusiastic and ambitious faculty-researchers. The research mission of the department is to promote the use of information systems for the value creation of organizations, networks and society as a whole. We focus on the subfields of strategic design, governance and business processes and also collaborate in the framework of the OU-wide research programs "Safe City" and "Learning and Innovation in Resilient Systems". The academic bachelor's and master's degree programs, which are provided (largely online) by the department, are well regarded by our students and regularly receive awards for the quality of teaching. The courses we offer also incorporate the latest educational technologies and insights, as evidenced by the department's active contribution to university-wide educational innovation projects.
