Senior Lecturer Position in Computer and Systems Science

Luleå University of Technology is looking for a Senior Lecturer in the field of  Computer and Systems Science. The Research Group of Computer and Systems Science is part of the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering.

The research activities focus mainly on two research areas; information security and long-term digital preservation. The group is responsible for the Systems Science programme and the international Master's programme in information security.

With this application we seek to strengthen our team in teaching information systems and computer science -related courses and in research on information security.

Subject description

Computer and Systems Science is a broad methodological and technical subject which covers all aspects of the specification, design, construction, operation, use and management of IT systems in a broad sense.

Work assignments

The senior lecturer is responsible for providing and developing academic education at all levels of the subject. The position includes supervision of students at different levels.

The senior lecturer is expected to actively participate in and to carry out research related to the department's research areas, preferably information security, and to participate in applications for external research funding in collaboration with the other members of the faculty.

All teaching is conducted as combined campus/distance teaching. Teaching at the Master's level is carried out in English. Teaching at the Bachelor's level is carried out both in Swedish and in English.

Eligibility requirements in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance:

A person who has demonstrated scientific and pedagogical skills and completed her/his doctoral/PhD studies (the Swedish "doktorsexamen" or a foreign equivalent) in the field of information systems / computer science or an equivalent can be regarded as qualified.

(Applicants being close to complement their doctoral/PhD studies and with significant pedagogical experience & documented research results can be regarded as potentially eligible to be hired to a short-term, project-based research- and teaching position.)

The following grounds of assessment apply for the position:

  *     Pedagogical and scientific skills will be equally highlighted.

Other grounds for assessment, ranked as follows

  1.  Teaching experience in programming- and/or advanced database-related courses and/or information security -related topics is regarded as beneficial
  2.  Good communication skills and the ability to cooperate. Ability to teach in Swedish is regarded as beneficial.
  3.  Documented experience of participating in research groups and interacting with community and industries.
