Dear Colleagues,

If you conduct research in decision support systems, business intelligence,
or analytics, please consider contributing to the *research track* (
http://www2.commerce.virginia.edu/bic3/rtrack.asp) in the upcoming *pre-ICIS
BI Congress 3* (http://www2.commerce.virginia.edu/bic3/index.asp). *This is
a joint effort between Teradata University Network and SIGDSS.
*
Keeping with the "Innovation" theme of the ICIS conference, the BI Congress
3 seeks forward-thinking research and research-in-progress in the area of *Big
Data Analytics*.

Business Intelligence (BI)/ Decision Support (DSS)/ Analytics are core to
many businesses. In recent years, traditional approaches to these concepts
have been questioned as companies embrace voluminous, high-velocity data in
a variety of formats (i.e., multi-structured). How can organizations
innovate through this Big Data? And, how can academic research further
innovative thinking in this area? This *research track* aims to promote
theoretical, design science, behavioral research and emerging applications
in innovative areas of BI/DSS/Analytics. *We seek comprehensive research
and research-in-process* in topics including but not limited to:

*BI/DSS/Analytics from a management perspective*

   - Economics of information logistics
   - Inter-organizational BI
   - Critical success factors for information logistics implementation
   - Metrics for DW and BI
   - Governance of DW and BI
   - Information logistics as a service
   - Information logistics strategy
   - Program management for DW and BI
   - Real-time decision support
   - Context-award decision support
   - Affect and emotion in decision support systems
   - Socio-technical gaps in decision support systems
   - Rich language for decision support systems

*DW/BI/Analytics from an application perspective*

   - Pervasive BI (why and how)
   - SaaS and BI (Cloud Computing)
   - Real-time BI and performance metrics
   - Social Networking, Web 2.0 and BI
   - Text Mining/ Data mining - techniques and applications
   - Data Visualization and BI
   - Customer profiling
   - Data Integration
   - Integration of web services with the data warehouse
   - Business Process Management and BI
   - Master Data Management
   - Behavioral Economics and BI Interfaces
   - Parallel Processing for Very Large Data Warehouses
   - Multi Temperature Data Warehouses


Paper Guidelines: Please use the ICIS formatting
guidelines<http://icis2012.aisnet.org/index.php/submissions>for your
paper submission.

   - Topic is relevant to track's theme.
   - Objectives are clear and well-described.
   - Paper is clearly written.
   - Paper will draw an audience.
   - Paper is well organized and flows logically.
   - Literature review is appropriate.
   - Methodology (or proposed methodology) is appropriate.
   - Analyses are appropriate (if relevant, many RIP paper may not have
   data for analyses).
   - Evidence supports authors' arguments.
   - Paper makes contributions to the field, or has potential for
   contributions.

Page Limit Requirements: *Full research papers must not exceed 14 pages* --
and *research-in-progress papers must not exceed 7 pages*. All submissions
must conform to the ICIS 2012 submission template and follow the
instructions document. The page limit must include all text, figures, and
tables. The cover page, abstract, keywords, and references are excluded
from this page count.

During the conference, select research-in-progress papers will be discussed
in a round table format to help shape the research for future publication
success and strong impact.

*All accepted papers will be published in the BI Congress 3 conference
proceedings. Authors will retain copyright ownership. Quality papers will
be fast-tracked for publication in related journal in the field (.e.g.,
International Journal of BI Research and others); however, they will be
subject to further review as determined by the journal.*


*Important Dates:*

Due Date: September 15, 2012
Acceptance notification: October 15, 2012
Final Papers due: November 1, 2012
BI Congress 3: December 15 (practice presentations and evening social
event) & December 16 (papers, panels and keynotes), 2012

Prepare Manuscript using ICIS paper formatting

If accepted, make any improvements and submit revised paper to the Research
Track chairs by November 1, 2012.
