Join us for a webinar on October 8 | 1 PM EDT

The development, adoption, and acceptance of eHealth systems that change and improve patient self-care have been promising, but the results have been mixed and the work mostly atheoretical. In this research we respond to this opportunity by developing and assessing an eHealth system for newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes patients.

Learning Objectives:

  * Developing an understanding of the issues in designing and implementing health care IT for research purposes.
  * Identifying the challenges and opportunities in linking the relationships across IT adoption and healthcare outcomes.
  * Understanding how to represent health-related IT research in IS and healthcare journals.

Presenters:

Mike Chiasson - Dr. Mike W. Chiasson is currently a Professor in the Faculty of Management at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan. His research examines how social context (practices, culture, goals, outcomes) affects and is affected by the initiation, development and implementation of information technology. In studying these questions, he has employed interventional methods including action research, field experimentation and living lab methodologies, studying medical, legal, engineering, entrepreneurial, and governmental organizations.

Helen Kelley - Dr. Helen M. Kelley is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Management and Acting Associate Dean of the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Lethbridge. Her research focuses on the individual user of information and enterprise resource planning technologies, viewed from social cognitive and attributional perspectives. Her current interests investigate understanding what individuals and managers of organizations may do to enhance individual use, acceptance and adoption of information systems technologies in health care environments.
