If you will soon be graduating from a PhD program, are on the job market at ICIS 2016, or a new junior faculty member, join us for an AIS-sponsored pre-ICIS panel, entitled “Developing a Scholarly Identity as a Junior Faculty Member.”

When: Sunday, December 11th, from 3 – 4 p.m.
Where: The Gibson Hotel, Dublin

Panelists (in alphabetical order):
Michelle Carter (Moderator), Washington State University
Jeff Jenkins, Brigham Young University
Eric Larson, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
Jaime Windeler, University of Cincinnati

Panel Description:
While the road to tenure is fraught
It's far from a Gordian knot
  An identity is key

 To appear scholarly
Lest your efforts all lead to naught!

While landing a faculty position at the culmination of a PhD program is generally viewed as a huge achievement, junior faculty face plenty of challenges on the road to tenure. Not least of these, is the need to develop a sense of who one is, as a scholar, and as a member of the information systems community. In this panel, four pre-tenured assistant professors share their experiences of transitioning from student to faculty and developing a scholarly identity. Following brief presentations by the panelists, audience members will be invited to offer their perspectives and pose questions. The panel is likely to be of interest to soon-to-be graduates and new faculty members.

Looking forward to seeing you in Dublin!
