The Department of Information Systems in the College of Business invites
nominations and applications for a Lecturer of Information Systems position.
This position is located on the Statesboro campus but may have teaching
assignments on multiple campuses as needed.
Georgia Southern University is the state’s largest and most comprehensive

Housed within the College of Business, the Department of Information
Systems offers a B.B.A. in Information Systems that prepares students to
work in a corporate computing career. The Department is a member of the SAP
University Alliances and has a strong reputation for being a lead
institution in ERP/SAP curriculum. Faculty members also participate in the
delivery of the Department’s Online Graduate Enterprise Resource Planning
(ERP) Certificate program with an emphasis in SAP, as well as courses that
support the MBA and Master of Accounting programs.
*Position Description:* Reporting to the Chair of the Department of
Information Systems, the lecturer position is primarily a teaching
appointment with some service required. The Lecturer will be required to
have a master's degree and relevant industry work experience. The position
is a 9-month, non-tenure-track, appointment, and the salary will be
competitive.
*Required Qualifications:*
• Master’s (e.g., MSIS, MBA, or equivalent) degree is required by
August 1, 2019, from a regionally accredited institution, with at least 18
graduate semester hours in Information Systems or Information Technology.
• Evidence of effective communication skills.
• Demonstrated substantive knowledge and proficiency in MS Office
applications.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration
of employment without assistance from the institution.
*Preferred Qualifications:*
• Professional industry certification relevant to at least one or
more areas within the IS degree program.
• At least one year of full-time relevant industry or consulting
work experience in one or more of the following areas:
o SAP enterprise systems software
o Database management
o Programming (e.g., Java and/or SAP ABAP)
o Business Analytics/Intelligence
o Networks and telecommunications
o Project management.
• Demonstrated significant commitment to, and experience in,
teaching & learning, specifically within the broader area of information
systems
• Commitment to student engagement and participation
• Online teaching experience
• Interest in ongoing professional development within the discipline.
Screening of applications begins November 15, 2018, and continues until the
position is filled. The preferred position starting date is August 1, 2019.
