The Department of Information Systems in the College of Business invites
applications and nominations for an Assistant Professor of Information
Systems. This position is located on the Statesboro campus, but may have
teaching assignments on multiple campuses as needed.
Georgia Southern University is the state’s largest and most comprehensive
center of higher education south of Atlanta. With 141 degree programs at
the associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels, Georgia

Within this setting, the Department of Information Systems supports the
college's BBA and MBA programs. The Department is well known as a leader in
the delivery of ERP and enterprise systems education and preparing students
and professionals for successful careers in ERP and business process
integration as well as other IS related jobs. The Department also has
significant expertise in business analytics/business intelligence and
project management education. Faculty members participate in the SAP
University Alliance program as well as the Association for Information
Systems (AIS) and Project Management International (PMI). They also
participate in the delivery of the Department's Online Graduate Enterprise
Resource Planning (ERP) Certificate program with an emphasis in SAP, as
well as courses that support the MBA, Master of Accounting, and Master of
Science in Applied Engineering programs. A master's degree in Enterprise
Systems is in the planning stages.
*Position Description:* The position reports to the Chair of the Department
of Information Systems, is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment beginning
August 1, 2019, and salary is commensurate with qualifications and
experience. The position requires teaching, research and service
responsibilities. Faculty are expected to be teacher/scholars with a
commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, engage in productive
discipline-related scholarship, be committed to professional service, be
technologically literate and have a commitment to using technology in
teaching and scholarship, and have experience with, or interest in, working
in diverse academic and professional communities. The ability to contribute
to a positive work environment in the department, college, and University
is also expected.
*Required Qualifications:*
· A Ph.D., or DBA, in Information Systems, or a closely related
field, from an AACSB (or equivalent) accredited school is required by
August 1, 2019.
· Evidence (e.g., statement of research interests, published journal
and conference articles) of the ability to develop and implement a research
agenda and publish in high-quality IS journals.
· Evidence of the potential for above-average teaching ability.
· Evidence of effective communication skills.
· Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration
of employment without assistance from the institution.
*Preferred Qualifications:*
· While applicants with all areas of MIS expertise are welcomed,
preference will be given to candidates who can provide instructional
support for classes in one or more of the following areas:
o SAP enterprise systems software
o Database management
o Business intelligence and business analytics
o Networks and telecommunications
o Business programming
o Project management.

position is filled. The preferred position starting date is August 1, 2019.
