Ghent University (Belgium) is hiring two PhD students in the domain of Business Process Management: one technical profile and one management-related profile.
Start date: October 1, 2019 (or sooner, if possible)
4-year project grants are already obtained. The topics are to be discussed with the supervisor, within certain project limitations.
* For the technical profile: The focus lies on the discovery, analyses and support of knowledge intensive business processes. Sectors where these processes typically can be situated are the health care sector and legal sector.
* For the management-related profile: We particularly intend to continue working on the managerial and organizational aspects involved in the broad domain of Business Process Management, and the link with digital innovation and new technologies.

ABOUT GHENT MIS research group
The MIS research vision has been translated into "Business Architecture & Process Management". It consists of three interrelated research clusters: (1) Enterprise Architecture, coordinated by Prof. dr. Poels, (2) BPM Technological perspective, coordinated by Prof. dr. Gailly, and (3) BPM Organizational perspective, coordinated by Prof. dr. Van Looy. Across these three clusters, different themes have been identified on which future research may particularly focus, such as SMEs, public sector, healthcare, service sector, Business-IT consultancy and disruptive technologies. Every theme has one or more expert(s) within the MIS research group.

YOUR TASKS
- Being a project-based PhD, most of your assignment will be spent on academic research in preparation of a doctoral dissertation.
- To a minor extent, you will assist in the teaching activities at the department, specifically in assisting master dissertations or courses related to IT management.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You have an University degree (Master or equivalent) in Business Economics or Computer Science or a related discipline and you are eager to become a business process management researcher.
For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted. The degree requirements need to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
Current Master students in their last year can also apply.
- You are interested in scientific research in preparation of a doctoral dissertation and doctoral training.
- Be passionate about research in Business Process Management, and be motivated to provide an original scientific contribution to this domain via doctoral research.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a two-year appointment, which may be renewed for two years, on condition that the previous term was given a positive evaluation.
- Your appointment will start on 1 October 2019 at the latest.
