The Management, Information Systems, and Quantitative Methods (MISQ) Department of the Collat School of Business at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks applicants for a tenure-track, open rank faculty member in Quantitative Methods with a specialty in Business Analytics to begin Fall 2022. Applicants at the Associate Professor or Professor rank are preferred; however, senior Assistant Professors with well-established research and teaching records will be considered. Rank and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Quantitative Methods (QM) group within the MISQ department has a variety of research interests, including quality management, analytics application in business and healthcare, bioinformatics, quantitative literacy, and data mining. Within the MISQ department, the applicant will find research interests that can complement business analytics, including cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, human resources, and mobile application marketplaces.
While high-quality peer-reviewed research is emphasized, the university administration supports other research activities and cross-disciplinary collaborations across the university and with the business community.
The selected individual will provide leadership within the department and school on business analytics curriculum and strategic planning initiatives. Applicants with demonstrated interdisciplinary team building and stakeholder engagement skills are preferred.
Primary teaching responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate courses in business statistics and business analytics. Specific teaching assignments include developing and delivering online and/or face-to-face courses requiring knowledge and experience using the Canvas Learning Management System. UAB has excellent teaching facilities and support, including multimedia classrooms in a state-of-the-art new building and computer equipment and software to meet teaching needs.

Required Qualifications
Applicants with an earned doctorate in Business Analytics, Business Statistics, Management Science, or a related business discipline focusing on business analytics from an AACSB accredited degree program are preferred. Applicants with non-business doctoral degrees and industry experience applying business analytics concepts will also be considered. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to maintain a strong record of research and scholarship relating to business analytics. Teaching experience and/or interests are focused on business analytics and business statistics.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants with the ability to translate business analytics concepts into various business contexts will be highly preferred. Preference will also be given to applicants with proficiency in one or more business analytics applications, including but not limited to Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik, among other statistical tools. Industry experience is also valued. Applicants interested in business analytics in the context of health systems will find many opportunities to teach and conduct research in these areas at UAB.
