The Management, Information Systems, and Quantitative Methods (MISQ) Department of the Collat School of Business at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks applicants for a non-tenure-track Instructor in Quantitative Methods with a specialty in Business Analytics to begin Summer 2022. The Collat School of Business maintains a promotion path for Instructor rank faculty with potential for multi-year contracts, based on performance in rank. Rank and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Primary teaching responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate courses in business statistics and business analytics. Specific teaching assignments include developing and delivering online and/or face-to-face courses requiring knowledge and experience using the Canvas Learning Management System. UAB has excellent teaching facilities and support, including multimedia classrooms in a state-of-the-art new building and computer equipment and software to meet teaching needs.
The selected individual will play a supportive role in curriculum and community outreach to key constituencies interested in business analytics. Applicants with knowledge of regional needs for business analytics and a record of community outreach are encouraged to apply.

Within the MISQ department, the applicant will find a stimulating academic environment that complements its business analytics curriculum development efforts. The Quantitative Methods (QM) group has a variety of research interests, including quality management, analytics application in business and healthcare, bioinformatics, quantitative literacy, and data mining. Other disciplines within MISQ conduct research in areas that also complement business analytics, including cybersecurity, mobile application marketplaces, human resources, and entrepreneurship. While research is not required, the instructor will find opportunities for research collaboration among faculty.

Required Qualifications
Applicants with an earned graduate degree in Business Analytics, Business Statistics, Management Science, or a related business discipline with a focus on business analytics from an AACSB accredited degree program are preferred. Applicants with non-business graduate degrees and industry experience applying business analytics concepts will also be considered. Applicants must demonstrate an ability to maintain a strong dedication to quality in the classroom. Teaching experience and/or interests are focused on business analytics and business statistics.
Applicants with the ability to translate business analytics concepts into various business contexts will be highly preferred. Preference will also be given to applicants with proficiency in one or more business analytics applications, including but not limited to Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik, among other statistical tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants with business analytics work experience in information technology, healthcare, financial services, entrepreneurship, and government/ public administration are desirable, with many opportunities to engage with the local and state community.
