The University of Kansas, School of Business is accepting applications for the Business Ph.D. in Analytics & Operations for fall 2022

Have you ever considered pursuing a PhD in Business?  Did you know that an undergraduate education in a technical discipline such as yours makes you an outstanding candidate to pursue a PhD in Business with an emphasis in Analytics & Operations? Sounds intriguing? Please read on.


As a doctoral student in Analytics & Operations, you will apply sound mathematical and statistical tools to solve real world problems. Depending upon your interest, you might work on:

•        Data analytics (we know you have heard about the buzz word),
•        Statistical/Machine learning (we live in the era of Big Data, ever wonder about converting big data to big management insights using cutting-edge quantitative models?),
•        Healthcare operations (ever wondered about improving the performance of a hospital emergency department, national kidney transplantation system, or that a blood bank?),
•        Supply chain optimization (help firms make better decisions throughout their supply chains, examples include purchasing management, inventory management, or pricing management),
•        Behavioral operations management (focuses on “people issues” within and beyond traditional models to improve decision makings and provide decision support),
•        Transportation networks (modeling airline networks and flight delays, analyzing the impact of policy changes on airline operations),
•        And many more.

What will you do upon graduation? Unlike many disciplines (e.g., science or engineering) you would likely be able to find an assistant professor position at a business school without the need for doing a post-doc, and yes, you will make a decent living! Did we mention that the Business School provides full financial support (covers full tuition and fees and offers a generous stipend) for five years to each admitted doctoral student?
