Dear colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to our new book on the Data Science
Process Model (DASC-PM) version 1.1.

In 2020, we already published a first version 1.0 of the book, but only
in German. Since we have been asked with insistence by both theorists
and practitioners for an English edition, we are pleased to provide you
with an English edition of the book in version 1.1 for download free of
charge:

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/361428426_DASC-PM_v11_-_A_Process_Model_for_Data_Science_Projects.

With this version, we are addressing a lot of feedback from
practitioners and academics, as well as some issues that are
particularly close to our hearts. For example, we improved the
readability of the entire document through more stringent structuring
and shorter introductory texts. The model itself focuses more strongly
on the characterization and differentiation of key areas and phases, as
well as how their interaction can look like in different, also agile
project constellations. We critically reviewed all the terminology used
across the document and adapted it where necessary. In doing so, we have
taken up suggestions for a less formal and more catchy visualization,
i.e., both the document and the actual model have been transformed into
a more attractive graphical form (at least that is what we hope). Given
that the DASC-PM was created "by many for many", a possibly slight
reduction in its scientific exactness appeared to us to be an
appropriate trade-off in favor of increased comprehensibility and
applicability.

All results presented in the book on the DASC-PM are largely based on
feedback from a broad working group of theorists and practitioners. It
represents a state of discussion that is intended to be stimulating and
helpful, but never claims to conclusively cover the lively field of Data
Science. We hope that this liveliness will also motivate you to discuss
and further develop the DASC-PM with us. Therefore, we would like to
make the model available to the widest audience possible. In line with
this, please feel free to share the document with your colleagues.

If you are interested in contributing or would like us to keep you
informed of recent developments of the model, please feel free to
contact us (info at dasc-pm.org).

Kind regards,

The DASC-PM core team
