Job Description:
Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S& T, formerly
University of Missouri-Rolla) Department of Business and Information
Technology seeks to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in
Information Science & Technology beginning in Fall 2023. Preferred teaching
interests include business analytics, information visualization, financial
analytics, financial technology, cryptocurrency, blockchain, cloud
computing, UX, cybersecurity, data engineering, machine learning,
artificial intelligence, and/or Smart Factory.
The normal teaching load is two courses per semester. The candidate is
expected to provide high-quality instruction and research, participate in
developing the Information Science & Technology program in the department,
play a major role in the development of programs, advise students, and
establish and maintain professional relationships.
Minimum Qualifications:
• PhD or DBA in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely
associated academic area.
• Knowledge of Python and/or R.
Preferred Qualifications:
• PhD or DBA that meets the minimum qualifications and is from an
AACSB-accredited institution when the degree is from a business school.
• A background in finance.
• Evidence of excellence in teaching business analytics, information
visualization, financial analytics, financial technology, cryptocurrency,
blockchain, cloud computing, UX, cybersecurity, data engineering, machine
learning, artificial intelligence, Smart Factory, or related courses at
undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Experience in teaching online or distance classes.
• Commitment and demonstrable ability to be a productive scholar.
• Strong interest in research and teaching in business analytics,
information visualization, financial analytics, financial technology,
cryptocurrency, blockchain, cloud computing, UX, cybersecurity, data
engineering, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and/or Smart
Factory.
• Excellent communication and ability to work effectively with diverse
groups.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the sense of camaraderie necessary to
help us build a stronger culture of collaboration and collegiality.
