Job Description:
Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) Department of
Business and Information Technology (BIT) invites applications for the
position of the Fred and June Kummer Endowed Faculty of Innovation and
Technology Management in the Department of Business and Information
Technology, with an anticipated starting date of August 2023.

The department seeks an exceptionally qualified scholar to provide
leadership and vision in the department, and in Kummer College, in the
areas of research in information systems, technological innovation,
technology management, entrepreneurship, and/or economic development.

The normal teaching load is two courses per semester. The candidate is
expected to provide high-quality instruction, provide leadership in
scholarly research in the areas of innovation, technology, technology
management, entrepreneurship, and/or economic development, participate in
developing the Business & Information Technology degree programs, advise
students, retain AACSB scholarly academic qualifications through
scholarship productivity, and establish and maintain professional
relationships.

As an endowed professor, the successful candidate will be expected to:
• Raise the scholarly visibility of the department both on campus and
nationally/internationally;
• Participate in engaging and building collaborative relationships with
other scholars on campus and in the department;
• Contribute to a strong and sustainable scholarly relationship between the
new Kummer College and the scholarly work of the department;
• Contribute to leadership and vision related to excellence in the
department education initiatives;
• Provide high-quality instruction to the four-degree programs in the
department;
• Provide mentoring and advising to undergraduate and graduate students in
the department;
• Contribute to a clear and consistent vision of future development for the
department that is well-integrated into Missouri S&T's STEM-focused
environment;
• Participate in scholarly activities to achieve and maintain AACSB
qualification;
• Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and help foster economic
development;
• Demonstrate knowledge and success in curriculum and program development
and management.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Information Systems, Business, Technology Management,
Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Computer Science, Management Information
Systems, or a closely related discipline and hold the rank of full
professor or be qualified for tenure and appointment to the rank of full
professor at the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:
• PhD or DBA in Information Systems, Business, Technology Management,
Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Management Information Systems, Computer
Science, or a closely associated academic area, preferably from an
AACSB-accredited institution (when the degree is from a business school.)
• Commitment and demonstrable ability to be a productive scholar.
• Strong interest in research and teaching in business analytics,
technology management, entrepreneurship, economic development, design
thinking, information visualization, financial analytics, financial
technology, cryptocurrency, blockchain, cloud computing, UX, cybersecurity,
data engineering, machine learning, artificial intelligence,
bioinformatics, and/or Smart Factory.
• Evidence of excellence in teaching innovation, technology, technology
management, entrepreneurship, economic development, design thinking, or
related courses at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Experience in teaching online or distance classes.
• Excellent communication and ability to work effectively with diverse
groups.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the sense of camaraderie necessary to
help us build a stronger culture of collaboration and collegiality.
• Outstanding record of scholarship evidenced by a strong record of
publication as well as a clear and demonstrated commitment to excellence in
teaching and mentoring of students at all levels.
• Demonstrated success as an effective, inspiring, and collegial academic
leader.

Economic Development was established in October 2020 through a gift of $300
million from June and Fred Kummer, longtime benefactors of Missouri S& T.
The Institute will transform Missouri S& T and the south-central Missouri
region by cultivating leadership and technological innovation; nurturing an
entrepreneurial mindset; fostering expansion of academic-industry
partnerships to directly address emerging needs of industry; and creating
economic growth for the region. The academic arm of the Institute is the

The Department of Business and Information Technology consists of 13
tenured and tenure-track faculty, 2 ranked non-tenure-track faculty, 1
academic specialist, and 1 staff member. The department is AACSB accredited
and will host an accreditation visit in 2023. The research interests of the
faculty cover many areas, including traditional business areas as well as
applied information technology in a business context. The Department of
Business and Information Technology has recently been announced as an
inaugural department in the Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship,
and Economic Development on the Missouri S&T campus. The department also
plays an important role in terms of interdisciplinary interactions with
other departments and in the training of a large number of undergraduate
students in fundamental areas such as entrepreneurship, information
technology, and technological innovation management. The department has
B.S., M.S., and MBA programs, with over 150 graduate students and about 250
