CALL FOR PAPERS – WISE 2024
We are pleased to announce that the 35th Workshop on Information Systems and Economics (WISE) will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from December 18-20, 2024. WISE is the premier academic research forum for the discussion of information systems issues through the lens of economics. Presentations consist of research that addresses important business and societal questions with a focus on information technology, employing the lens of economics.
The theme for this year’s WISE is “Digital Crossroads: Emerging Paradigms in Information Systems and Economics.” The conference will focus on the intersection of new technological developments, signifying a point of convergence for diverse ideas, technologies, and cultures, reflecting the multifaceted nature of digital transformation. We invite research that explores how digital technologies are creating intersections across traditional economic boundaries, sectors, and disciplines, fostering new forms of collaboration, innovation, value creation, and value capture. More specifically, we encourage submissions that delve into the following thematic areas:

  * Innovation and Disruption: Papers that explore how emerging technologies are disrupting traditional economic models and creating new opportunities for innovation in business processes, market structures, and consumer engagement.
  * Data-Driven Decision-Making: Papers that focus on the role of analytics, machine learning, and computational social science in shaping organizational decision-making and policy choices, emphasizing how data-based insights are driving policy and business strategy.
  * Digital Inclusion, Equity & Ethics: Papers that examine the impact of new technologies on economic inequality, as well as strategies for promoting digital literacy, access to technology, inclusive growth, individual empowerment, and the right to privacy.
  * Sustainable Digital Ecosystems: Papers that investigate the sustainability of digital transformations, including the environmental impact of digital technologies, and the development of green IT practices and sustainable business models in the information systems domain.
Important Dates

  *   Submission Portal Opens: June 1st, 2024
  *   Submission Deadline: August 23rd, 2024
  *   Decision Notification: September 15th, 2024
Submission Instructions
Extended abstracts can be submitted via the EasyChair submission portal at: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=wise_2024.
Abstracts should be no more than 6 pages in length (double-spaced, 12 pt., Times New Roman font, with 1-inch margins). This page limit is inclusive of all text, figures, tables and references. Papers should be submitted in PDF format. As part of your submission process, you will be asked to indicate the presenting co-author, should the paper be accepted. Additionally, you will be asked to indicate if the work is primarily student-led. Please note that no individual will be scheduled to present more than one paper at the conference.
We encourage submission of papers that would materially benefit from discussant and audience feedback. Accordingly, authors are strongly discouraged from submitting any work that has already received an invitation for revision, been conditionally accepted, or been accepted for publication at a journal. Further, to minimize repeated exposure of the same paper, we also ask that authors not submit work that has been submitted / scheduled for presentation at either ICIS 2024 or WITS 2024. Finally, authors are discouraged from submitting more than two co-authored works to WISE, particularly if those works do not involve a student. We will consider the number of papers a given individual appears on as co-author when developing the conference program and rendering paper decisions.
WISE does not assume copyright over accepted work and does not publish formal proceedings. Accepted extended abstracts included in the program will be posted unless otherwise requested by the submitting author.
