HCI Research in MIS: A Human-Centered Perspective –
ECIS 2026 Workshop sponsored by AIS SIGHCI

The Workshop builds on the success of the past HCI Tracks at ECIS, AMCIS, PACIS, and the annual pre-ICIS Workshop, and continues to engage the European community of AIS scholars.

WORKSHOP:
New and exciting opportunities are emerging in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) due to advances in digital technologies, which range from immersive experiences involving Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR / VR) to intelligent agents and robotics. But at the same time, these digital technologies have given rise to unprecedented challenges with associated demands on how to optimize user experience. This in turn renders a human-centered perspective in contemporary studies on human-AI teaming, human-robot interactions, and the metaverse, among others, of paramount importance.

This HCI Research in MIS Workshop at ECIS 2026 offers a forum for Management of Information Systems (MIS)-focused HCI researchers to not only engage in constructive and meaningful dialogues on contemporary HCI topics, but to also exchange ideas related to the field of HCI.

This Workshop welcomes submissions that aim to further our understanding of HCI at the individual, work group, organization, or society levels, using any type of research method. Given the diverse goals of this workshop, a non-exhaustive list of potential topics is provided below:

Metaverse and immersive environments (AR/VR)
Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence
Human-Robot Interactions
Neuroscientific approaches to HCI
Inclusion and ethics issues in HCI
Gamified approaches to HCI
Dark Side of HCI (e.g., technostress)
Chatbots, conversational and intelligent agents
Privacy and security issues in HCI
Interface design for the elderly, the young, and/or other special needs populations
Design and evaluation of mobile and/or web interfaces
This Workshop is sponsored by AIS SIGHCI. High quality and relevant papers from this Worskhop will be considered for selection for fast-tracked development towards publication in AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interaction [http://aisel.aisnet.org/thci].

FORMAT AND DURATION:
This workshop will be held in person as a half-day event beginning at 14:00 CET on Sunday, June 14, 2026.

SUBMISSION:
All submissions must be formatted for letter size (8.5- x 11-inch where 1 inch = 2.5 cm) and have 1-inch margins on each side. Please use Times New Roman 12-point font with single spacing for the body of the paper. The first page of the manuscript should have a title, the type of the submission (Completed Research or Research-in-Progress), total word count of the submission, an abstract of 150 words or less, and a list of 5-6 keywords.

Maximum length for manuscripts are as follows:

Completed Research Paper: 14 pages
Research-in-Progress: 7 pages
These page limits are inclusive of all text, figures, and tables, but do not include the cover page, abstract, keywords, or references.

Only submissions in PDF format will be accepted for review.

Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts using The Conference Management Toolkit (CMT): https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/ECISSIGHCI2026. The submission system is now open. Please sign in or create a CMT account to complete your submission.

The Microsoft CMT service was used for managing the peer-reviewing process for this conference. This service was provided for free by Microsoft and they bore all expenses, including costs for Azure cloud services as well as for software development and support.

As this is a cooperative workshop environment, we expect submitting authors to serve as reviewers of other manuscripts.
