University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO)
Assistant Professor, IT Innovation (ITIN)
College of Information Science and Technology
School of Interdisciplinary Informatics (Si2)

The College of Information Science and Technology (IS&T) is an
interdisciplinary college focusing on meeting the needs of a vibrant
metropolitan area. The School of Interdisciplinary Informatics (Si2), a
unit within the College of IS&T, focuses on expanding the role of
information technology in cybersecurity, health care, business, the arts,
government and other disciplines through state-of-the-art education,
research and outreach.

Due to the rise in demand for Information Technology professionals in all
industries, the College of IS&T has responded to this need by creating a
Bachelor of Science degree in IT Innovation (ITIN) that allows students to
combine an IT degree with another, customized field of study (`practice
area`). Students pursuing an ITIN degree are required to take general
education courses, Information Technology courses (both technical and
managerial), and an approved combination of `flexible` courses from
another disciplinary area where the student want to apply IT.
Interdisciplinary practice specialties could include -- but are not
limited to -- management, marketing, finance, accounting, economics,
mathematics, psychology, aviation, communication, fine arts, graphic
design, engineering, gerontology, and geography.

To further build the ITIN program, the school invites applications for a
tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates must
possess an appropriate doctorate or all but the dissertation (ABD) in
Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field with
an enhanced interest in applying IT to other disciplines with a focus on
entrepreneurship (or related areas) from a nationally recognized program.
The college is seeking strong candidates with research and teaching
interests in the broad field of IT Innovation and who also have the
ability to teach computer science and/or management information system
courses as needed. Candidates with focused research in multi-media,
visualization, visual gaming and virtual reality, healthcare IT
innovation, human computer interaction and/or IT entrepreneurial expertise
are especially encouraged to apply. Contributions to service within the
university, business or professional areas are expected.

The College of IS&T is responsible for a Bachelor of Science Program in IT
Innovation (started in the Fall of 2008) , a Bachelor of Science Program
in Information Assurance, two ABET accredited Bachelor of Science programs
in Computer Science and Management Information Systems, and two Master of
Science degrees in Management Information Systems and Computer Science.
The college hosts an innovative college-wide interdisciplinary PhD in
Information Technology degree.

The UNO College of IS&T and the UNL College of Engineering and Technology
are partners in The Peter Kiewit Institute of Information Science,
Technology and Engineering. The Institute has been funded by a $70 million
Industry/University/Government initiative. In 1999, the college moved
into a new $32.5 million building. We invite you to visit the college web
