The objective of this special issue is to provide a forum for research
focusing on the organization as central to the analysis and understanding
of information and communication technologies (ICT) implementation and use
in developing economies. The adoption of ICT by organizations can have a
significant impact on economic development in these economies. Research
focusing on ICT within an organizational context in these economies is
still scarce.



“Developing economies are defined by low gross national income per capita and
are generally characterized by low standards of living,  a weak industrial
and commercial base, and a poor infrastructure” [1].  These economies are
also marked by relatively slow and unpredictable changes in laws and
regulations, and a management outlook that is adept at the reallocation of
resources [1]. The unique business environment in these economies
influences the nature of design, implementation and use of ICT.



We seek papers that explore issues related to the innovative design,
implementation and use of ICT in organizations in developing economies,
focusing on how these may differ from experiences in developed economies.
Submitted work will be evaluated for methodological soundness, empirical
completeness and academic rigor as well originality and interestingness.

§  Organizational considerations in ICT development and application in
developing economies

§  Organizational considerations in the application of ICT in specific
industries (e.g. healthcare) in developing economies

§  Issues in the implementation and use of enterprise systems in developing
economies

§  Country specific organizational case studies, with specific reference to
the issues differentiating developed and developing economies

§  Global supply chain management in developing economies as compared to
developed economies

§  Issues in the implementation and use of knowledge management systems in
developing economies

§  Impact of ICT on organizational learning

§  Managing ICT projects in organizations in developing economies

§  Issues in e-commerce in developing economies

§  Comparative cross-country research, comparing organization ICT design,
use or implementation in developing and developed economies

Notification of initial acceptances:               May 30, 2013

Deadline for revised papers:                           July 15, 2013

Notification of final acceptances:                 August 31, 2013

The ideal length of submissions is 7500 words including all materials and
sections such as figures, tables, and references, but if justified, shorter
or longer manuscripts will be considered. All submissions should follow the
