MIS Camp welcomes you! If you are a new faculty member who is preparing to enter your first, second, or third year of an academic position at a university, come join us at MIS Camp at AMCIS 2013 in Chicago on Thursday, August 15 from 8:30 AM to 4:15 PM, at DePaul University.

MIS Camp uses interactive sessions with senior faculty to explore the joys and challenges of balancing one's teaching, research, service, and personal life to lead to a successful academic career. The emphasis of the Camp is on sharing experiences, listening and offering advice, establishing connections with senior scholars and peers, and having fun! The primary goal is for each participant to leave the camp with a better understanding of what they can do to manage the challenges of an academic career while making themselves more valuable to their university and the academy.

The Camp Counselors:

Manju Ahuja, University of Louisville
Donald Amoroso, Kennesaw State University
Susan Brown, University of Arizona
Allen Lee, Virginia Commonwealth University
Arun Rai, Georgia State University
Bob Zmud, University of Oklahoma

Sample Topics to be Discussed and Shared:

* What would I do? Ethics, politics, and luck: Survival strategies for junior faculty

* Useful tips and lessons from experiences with journals

* What is the critical number of pubs for tenure?

* How much time to put into teaching?

* How much service is enough? What type of service is better than others?

* How to handle double career, children and elderly care, and other necessary personal matters?

* How did I manage to have fun while getting tenure?

Application and Registration:

Attendance is limited to 25 people, and priority will be given to junior faculty who are early in their academic career and have not yet attended an MIS Camp. This is an AIS sponsored event and therefore all campers must be registered for the conference.
