Hamid Nemati, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, USA,
nemati at uncg.edu
Jeffrey D. Wall, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, USA,
jdwall2 at uncg.edu
Anthony Chow. University of North Carolina at Greensboro, USA,

This study compares privacy issues among social media users in the U.S. and
China. It also explores privacy issues among users with different levels of
Internet addiction and different online identity perceptions. The study
finds that U.S. and Chinese users differ in their privacy coping and
information sharing behaviors. Chinese users may be at greater risk to
privacy violations because of their online behaviors. Additionally, users
addicted to social media and users with different online identities may be
vulnerable to privacy violations. Potential explanations for these findings
are provided and directions for future research are offered.

Online peer-to-peer lending is a new type of financial market where
individual borrowers and lenders interact directly without collateral or
financial institution as an intermediary. A trust model is developed to
understand the critical factors that influence lender’s trust building
process. The results confirm that “Trust in Borrowers” positively affects
the lender’s Willingness to Lend. However, “Trust in the Intermediary” does
not affect to the lender’s Willingness to Lend, which is different from
traditional C2C e-commerce. The relationship between trust building and the
Chinese culture – Guanxi is also discussed.

Sanjay Misra, Atilim University, Turkey, sanjay.misra at atilim.edu.tr
This article investigates the possibilities of sub-Saharan Africa as a
sourcing destination in the software field. The authors interviewed a set
of professionals from Europe and Africa. Results indicate that there are
many disadvantages and difficulties impeding Nigeria to become a preferred
sourcing destination. The main ones are the absence of a strong software
industry and the concerns about legislative, fiscal and commercial
premises. On the other hand, it is observed that there are also relevant
added values and competitive advantages in Nigeria (English speaking
country, same time zone and cost) and, therefore, it can become a potential
target for software development outsourcing in the medium and long term.
